You may have heard about the Novel food application for CBD products. This has been brought about to ensure that only compliant safe CBD is available to consumers.
Leaf Organics is among the brands on the FSA’s new list of CBD goods listed on the novel food applications.
The list released on 31st March comprises products that have made an application to the FSA for novel food authorisation. Being on this list is vital. If a CBD company is not on this list, the sale of their CBD products must be discontinued immediately.
I think this is a good idea as there are so many poor quality, non-compliant, and frankly dangerous CBD products on the market. The UK public list is designed to show retailers and the public which products have been approved to remain on sale.
The list only relates to CBD that you ingest such as our CBD oil, gummies, and tablets. All our topical products are exempt.
To be on the list several criteria have to be adhered to including correct labelling, and lab reports to demonstrate the safety of the product.
Only CBD products that were on sale on 13 February 2020 and an authorisation application for the products before 31 March 2021 had to be made.
If you are using CBD oil it is worth checking to see if that company is on the list. Over 600 supplier applications have been rejected, yet still, many of these are still on sale in the high street. CBD products that have not made this list should therefore have been removed from sales or not bought by the consumer.
